The Magic of Expressive Imperfection —The Art of Letting Go in Watercolor Loose Watercolor Florals
EMERALD ART CENTER -— Springfield, Oregon
October 2026 4-week course (12 hours)
In this four-week watercolor course, students will explore loose, expressive florals while learning to work more freely with watercolor and let go of perfection. Through demonstrations, guided exercises, studies, and painting practice, we will explore ways to create movement, light, texture, atmosphere, and feeling in floral paintings. Rather than focusing on copying a photograph, students will be encouraged to observe, experiment, make their own artistic choices, and discover what happens when they trust the process. We will embrace happy accidents, play with different marks and techniques, and allow watercolor to do some of the work. The goal is to help students become more curious and expressive in their painting while giving them ideas and approaches they can continue using in their own work.
Wednesdays, October 7, 14, 21 & 28 | 1:00–4:00 PM
